Possible Data Loss
This is a friendly warning about possible data loss because you are using an
old version of GenoPro.
If you have an old version of GenoPro and you attempt to open a file created
by a newer version of GenoPro, then there is a possibility of data loss.
This is because the older version of GenoPro does not understand all the
data created by the newer version. When GenoPro encounters data it
does not understand, it creates a user-defined
tag to store the data. In some cases, the unknown data is simply
ignored.
For example, in GenoPro 2020 we introduced medical reccords and symbols displaying test results of diseases.
If you attempt to open a .gno file containing medical records with GenoPro 2019, then GenoPro 2019 will skip the unknown data (the medical records) and therefore those medical records will be lost.
The GenoPro file format has a special mechanism to determine if its file
format has changed. If so, GenoPro displays the following dialog
suggesting to the user to upgrade GenoPro.
When you click on the button [Find GenoPro Version X], GenoPro will locate
the installation file required to open your file without any data
loss.
The server will also tell you if you the version you are upgrading to is
eligible for free upgrade or if it requires a new registration key.
In this example, upgrading from version 2.0 to version 3.0 requires
a new registration key.
In this example, upgrading from version 2.0 to version 2.1 is free.
